Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is set to launch a new digital initiative called E-Health on Wednesday, October 16, 2024.



The system aims to transform healthcare in Ghana by digitizing patient records and streamlining medical management.



The E-Health initiative, developed by Lightwave e-Health Solutions in partnership with the Ministry of Health, will create a comprehensive electronic medical record and patient management system. 



It will also integrate disease protocols from Ghana&#8217;s Disease Surveillance Unit, allowing for seamless access to patient records across all teaching, regional, and district hospitals.



With the E-Health system, patients will no longer need to carry physical medical records when transferring between hospitals, as their medical histories can be accessed from any networked facility. This advancement is expected to improve efficiency and service delivery in the healthcare sector.



Dr. Bawumia, a strong advocate for digital health solutions, highlighted that Ghana will be the first country in Africa to implement such a comprehensive electronic system. 



He expressed optimism about the positive impact this initiative will have on healthcare in the country.



This launch follows previous successful digital health projects, including a drone delivery service for medical supplies and an E-pharmacy platform for online drug purchases.
