The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has launched the Ghana Gold Coin (GGC) to diversify investment opportunities for the public. 



The coins became available on November 26, 2024, in three denominations: 1.00 oz, 0.50 oz, and 0.25 oz, priced at GH₵45,020.48, GH₵22,409.74, and GH₵11,188.12, respectively.



The pricing of the coins is determined based on the previous day&#8217;s gold price from the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA), which was $2,635.40, alongside the Bloomberg USD to GHS exchange rate of 15.7500.



The introduction of the Ghana Gold Coin is part of the Bank of Ghana’s initiative to provide innovative investment avenues while enhancing the country&#8217;s financial instruments portfolio. 



This move is intended to absorb excess liquidity in the market and strengthen the local currency against major trading currencies.



By launching the GGC, the BoG aims to stabilize the economy and encourage investment in Ghana&#8217;s gold reserves, reflecting a strategic approach to bolster national economic growth. 



The initiative is expected to attract both local and international investors, promoting greater interest in Ghana’s gold market.
