Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has appealed to Ghanaians to rally behind the incoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) government following the peaceful conclusion of the 2024 elections. 



Gyan&#8217;s message comes in the wake of John Dramani Mahama&#8217;s victory over the New Patriotic Party (NPP), marking Mahama&#8217;s return to power after eight years in opposition.



In a heartfelt social media post, He congratulated the new administration and emphasized the need for collective support over partisan divisions.







 “Let’s support the government. Any government that comes to power, let’s support them,” he stated, warning against the negative impact of price inflation and economic hardship caused by divisive politics.



“Ghana has decided. Let’s put party politics aside, and if your party has won, focus on government, and for us as citizens, we will also support,” Gyan urged.



He underscored the importance of changing mindsets to ensure the success of the new administration, stating, “We also have to change our attitudes, and we have to support the new government. Let’s congratulate the new government, and that is my message.”



Gyan&#8217;s appeal comes as he calls for citizens to support the NDC rather than undermine it. “As a good citizen or as a loyal citizen of this country, this is my message for you: Let’s congratulate the ruling party, which is the NDC, and let us support them, not sabotage them,” he added.



While He briefly engaged in politics ahead of the elections as chairman of the Youth and Sports sub-committee for the NPP&#8217;s 2024 manifesto team, he announced in September his withdrawal from partisan politics to focus on philanthropy and youth empowerment.
