President John Dramani Mahama has revoked all appointments of Chief Executives for Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) across country. 



This decision was communicated via a letter issued on January 8, signed by Calistus Mahama, the Executive Secretary to the President.



The letter cites the President&#8217;s authority under the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936), as amended by the Local Governance (Amendment) Act, 2017 (Act 940). 



As a result of this revocation, the appointments of all Chief Executives and Assembly Members appointed under the relevant provisions of the Act are nullified, effective immediately.



In a move to ensure continuity in governance, the letter instructs that the respective Coordinating Directors of the various MMDAs will take on the role of acting Chief Executives until new permanent appointments are made.



This significant administrative step comes as the Mahama administration seeks to implement its agenda and streamline local governance in the country.
