Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has referred the newly appointed ministerial nominees from President John Dramani Mahama to the Appointments Committee for consideration and subsequent reporting to the House.



The nominees include Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson for Minister of Finance, John Jinapor for Minister of Energy, and Dominic Ayine for Attorney-General and Minister of Justice. 



This referral follows an announcement from the presidency dated January 9, 2025.



In his remarks during the parliamentary session, Bagbin stated, “I have received on your behalf a message from the office of the President. Hon. members, I will accordingly refer the nominees to the Appointments Committee for consideration and report to the House; it’s so referred.”



In response, Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh urged the nominees to prepare thoroughly for their upcoming vetting sessions. 



He emphasized the importance of being well-prepared, stating, “We want to caution your nominees to come prepared. It is not going to be business as usual, so they should come prepared. I hope you will be prepared if you appear before the appointment committee.”



The vetting process is expected to scrutinize the nominees&#8217; qualifications and plans for their respective ministries, setting the stage for the new administration&#8217;s agenda. 



The Appointments Committee will gather feedback and make recommendations to Parliament, marking a crucial step in finalizing the new cabinet.
