Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has described Ghana as being at its lowest point but says President John Dramani Mahama’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) has renewed hope for recovery.



Speaking after Mahama’s address in Parliament on Thursday, February 27, Bagbin acknowledged the country’s economic struggles while expressing confidence in the president’s commitment to fixing them.



“Clearly, our country is not in good shape. The decay is massive. Ghana, an African icon, is at our lowest point,” Bagbin stated in a Facebook post, emphasizing the nation’s dire situation.



However, he found reassurance in Mahama’s vision for rebuilding the country, calling the address “rejuvenating” and a source of confidence for a quick recovery.



“It’s stimulating confidence about quick recovery, resetting, and restoration to a more rewarding investment climate and social justice,” he remarked.



Bagbin also praised the government’s bold decision to make tertiary education free for persons with disabilities, a move he described as a significant step toward inclusivity.



“As a passionate advocate for persons with disabilities, I am particularly happy about the bold move of government to make tertiary education free for persons considered disabled. God bless our dear nation Ghana!” he stated.
